December is winding down, and Kwanzaa is just around the corner! I absolutely love this time of year because it's all about celebrating our culture and creating special moments with our families. I know life can get hectic with work, holiday parties, and everything else. But Kwanzaa is a perfect time to slow down and enjoy some quality family time.
I get it, the idea of squeezing in one more thing is overwhelming. But don't worry-Kwanzaa doesn't have to be complicated. It can be as simple or elaborate as you want. Here are some easy ways to put some Kwanzaa magic into your family celebrations:
- Create a Simple Kwanzaa Corner: Set up a Kinara (the candle holder) and the seven candles representing the Nguzo Saba (the seven principles). Let your kiddos help set it up- it's a fun way to talk about each principle and why they're important.
- Kwanzaa Family Fun Day: Pick a day during Kwanzaa to have a special family fun day. Watch a movie that celebrates Black culture, make a traditional African dish together, and play some games.
